Raw Materials
Unimicron always aims to provide high-quality and environmentally friendly products to our customers
around the world. Our procurement philosophy for raw materials is also mainly based on environmental
friendliness. The three major raw materials used for product production are Substrates, Potassium Gold
Cyanide, and Prepreg. The usage in 2021 was about 3.121 million sheets/14.169 million PNL, 3,285 kg and
216,000 rolls/3.12 million PNL, respectively. At the same time, we also promote the recycling of
packaging materials. For the trays used when the Carrier is shipped, we give priority to the purchase
for repeated use, and after shipping to customers, trays will be recycled by Unimicron’s suppliers for
reuse. In 2021, the purchased quantity of recycled trays accounted for approximately 59% of the total
purchased trays.
In the second half of 2021, we successfully introduced the use of Potassium Gold Cyanide made from
recycled Gold in the PCB SBU Shanying plant for related processes, in addition, the supplier will
recycle and refine the waste liquid, and provide it to Unimicron to fully achieve the benefit of the
circular economy.

Circular Economy and Sustainability
With the rising awareness of global environmental protection, Unimicron recognizes that it has been
entrusted with the mission of reducing resource waste and mining, while creating the value of circular
economy. Since 2018, the Carrier SBU has continued to advocate the use of recycled trays, and in 2021,
the PCB SBU introduced the use of gold salts made from recycled gold at its Shanying Plant.
Recycled Tray
We are committed to recycling packaging materials and have been recognized by Carrier SBU’s customers.
We give priority to purchasing the reused trays and ask our suppliers to recycle and reuse the trays
shipped to customers

Recycled Potassium Gold Cyanide

recycle and refine the waste liquid, and provide it to Unimicron to fully achieve the benefit of the
circular economy. The purchase of Potassium Gold Cyanide made from recycled gold in 2021 is 5%.
