Unimicron planted trees in New Moon Beach to protect the biodiversity of the coast!

Unimicron believes that the environment is the foundation of all things and should be protected by a long-term process. For this reason, we have been planting trees in each factory since its establishment to purify the air and beautify the environment. In recent years, the impact of climate change has intensified, and as a part of the global supply chain, we are aware that it is not enough to stick to improving the internal environment of our factories. Therefore, we are gradually expanding the concept of conservation outside of factories and seeking solutions to urgent environmental issues through communication and cooperation with external NonProfit Organizations, government agencies, and suppliers.

Since 2022, Unimicron has been working with the tree-planting expert, Tse-Xin Organic Agriculture Foundation (hereinafter referred to as Tse-Xin), to plant 1,000 seedlings in Hou-Long, Miaoli and Shihmen Reservoir, Taoyuan, to protect Taiwan's coastline, coastal forests, and water catchment areas, to conserve the water source, to increase the biodiversity, and to enrich the ecological environment.

Continuing the efforts of the past two years to protect coastal land, to slow down the coastline retreat, and enrich coastal biodiversity, this year, Unimicron adopted a piece of land and 1,000 seedlings at the New Moon Beach, and on March 30, two managers of Unimicron's Hsinfeng factory led about 75 employees, their family members, and the Tse-Xin to plant about 490 saplings. Despite the rain, we are still united and working together to protect the first line of the coast.

In order to enable the windbreak forests to grow healthily and quickly, the planting methods are planned and taught by Tse-Xin. In addition to choosing to plant Taiwan's common windbreak forest species - Pandanus odoratissimus, Linden Hibiscus and Casuarina equisetifolia, we also plant the tree in "Water-Storing Tree Planter" to provide continuous water supply to the saplings, increasing their survival rate to over 90% that is the best solution for coastal afforestation.

In order to deepen the sustainability of employees within the company, this year, we invited employees and their families to work together to plant trees, which shows Unimicron's commitment to protecting the environment. This activity not only conveyed our determination but also planted the seeds of environmental protection in the hearts of volunteers, just like the saplings planted by ourselves, slowly sprouted, branched, and bore fruit for action further.

In the future, Unimicron will continue to explore urgent environmental issues through the three main axes of "Planet, People, and Performance" and the seven commitments to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 4, 13, 15, and 17, and to give back to the community and create shared values.

  • Goal 4:Department of Economic and Social Affairs
  • Goal 13:Climate change is a real and undeniable threat to our entire civilization
  • Goal 15:Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss
  • SDG 17:Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development
